Democrats Refuse to Allow “Paid For” Doc Fix to Come to the Floor for a Vote
Congressman Phil Gingrey (R-GA) offered the Republican Alternative on H.R. 3961, the Medicare Physician Payment Reform Act, better known as the “Doc Fix” bill. Without modification, physician reimbursement rates under Medicare would be cut 21 percent beginning in January. Unlike the Democrats’ legislation which is not paid for and would add $210 billion to the federal deficit, the Republican alternative included Congressman Gingrey’s medical liability reform bill, which is estimated to save $54 billion and would pay for the doc fix.
