Severe Weather Disaster Relief Information for 11th District

Unfortunately, as you know, in late April the Southeast experienced some of the worst natural disasters our nation has faced in recent years. My thoughts and prayers continue to be with the victims and their families, and I offer my support to the countless families, homes, and businesses that were devastated by these catastrophes.

Governor Deal has designated Bartow, Floyd, Gordon, and Polk counties in the 11th District for disaster assistance. If you have been affected by these storms, please visit the GEMA disaster relief website for information on what resources are available.

For the latest information on shelters, damages, and road closures in your neighborhood, view the May 13, 2011 Situation Report.

Residents and business owners who sustained losses in the designated counties declared by FEMA to be eligible for assistance can begin applying for assistance by registering online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or 1-800-462-7585 (TTY) for the hearing and speech impaired. The toll-free telephone numbers will operate from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Sunday. Individual assistance can include grants to help pay for temporary housing, home repairs and other serious disaster-related expenses.  Low-interest loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration also will be available to cover residential and business losses not fully compensated by insurance.
