The Economist weighs in on the 110th Congress

An editorial in today’s Economist magazine discusses the first 6 months of the 100th Congress… and determines that the new Democrat majority has accomplished very little:
For all of the attention-grabbing activity, nothing concrete has yet been achieved. That 100-hours plan? Except for changes to the House’s own rules, none of the other bills has become law; most are languishing in the Senate… The “100 Hours” may be remembered as a catchy campaign slogan, but it may produce precisely nothing of legislative substance. At least the 1994 “Contract with America” helped to get the ball rolling on welfare reform.
… The Democrats were elated to end a 12-year Republican hold on Congress last year. But, six months on, some voters may be growing frustrated that the Democrats have offered little more than symbolic opposition to the White House.
