Gingrey, Doctors Caucus welcome Gingrich

Washington, Mar 31 -

U.S. Congressman Phil Gingrey, M.D. (R-GA) this week welcomed former House Speaker Newt Gingrich for a health care discussion with the GOP Doctors Caucus.

“As one of our nation’s foremost visionaries and a long-time conservative leader, Speaker Gingrich provided us with great insight as we work to craft health care solutions for the 21st Century,” said Gingrey.  “Speaker Gingrich has his finger on the pulse of a variety of different constituent groups throughout the country, and his expertise was well received.  As physicians, we recognize the need for health care reform to increase accessibility, but understand that reforms must not destroy the doctor-patient relationship that is crucial to quality care in this country.  The GOP Doctors Caucus will offer a ‘second opinion’ on the plans from the Democratic Majority who want to take health care choices away from patients and put control into the hands of government bureaucrats.  The American people don’t want Congress to take away their health care and replace it with government care.  We need health care reforms that increase patient ownership and choice of their coverage – not increase government involvement.”
