Gingrey announces Congressional Art Competition winners

Congressman Phil Gingrey, M.D., (GA-11) today announced the winners of the annual Congressional Art Competition during a ceremony at the Rome Area History Museum.

The winners are:

First place — Mattie Stubbs of Darlington
Second place — Avani Reddy of Darlington
Third place — Seohi Song of Kennesaw Mountain

Honorable Mentions: 

Larae Krouse — Armuchee
Kelsey Ann Williams — Darlington
Luuly Nguyen — Kennesaw Mountain

“Because we receive so many exceptional entries, reviewing the artwork submitted for the Congressional Art Competition is difficult every year, and this time was no different. The depth of talent and creativity displayed by this year’s entrants is exceptional. I extend my sincere congratulations to all of our winners and honorable mentions. I am proud that the artwork of our District’s first place winner, Mattie Stubbs, will be displayed in our nation’s Capitol for the next year.”

The annual Congressional Art Competition is an opportunity for high school artists to showcase their talent around the district and at the U.S. Capitol. The winner is eligible to receive a $3,000 scholarship to the Savannah College of Art and Design and will be featured alongside entries from other congressional districts in the U.S. Capitol Building.

Each high school may submit up to five entries. The following high schools participated in the Congressional Art Competition: Armuchee, Gordon Central, Darlington, Cedartown, Rome, Shiloh Hills, North Paulding, and Kennesaw Mountain.
