On the House floor today…. Debating Iraq

Today, the House will take up a comprehensive debate on the Global War on Terror. Let’s see if those Democrats who advocate “cutting and running” by immediately withdrawing our troops from Iraq cast votes to support that position. My bet? Don’t hold your breath. The liberal Democrats know the American people do not stand behind their policy of recalling our troops immediately. Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi might not remember the threat Saddam Hussein posed to our nation, but her record certainly does. On November 17, 2002 she told Tim Russert in an appearance NBC’s Meet the Press:
“Yes, he has chemical weapons, he has biological weapons, he is trying to get nuclear weapons… Saddam Hussein certainly has chemical and biological weapons. There’s no question about that.”
We have made great strides in Iraq. As President Bush commented earlier this year, “As Iraqis stand up, America and our coalition will stand down.” We are accomplishing our mission of creating a free Iraq, a more stable Middle East, and a more secure America. Be sure to check my website later today for a video of my comments before Congress supporting our troops, their mission, and our resolve to fight and win the War on Terror.
