Congressman Phil Gingrey Highlights State Flexibility Act At Press Conference for the 10th Amendment Task Force

Congressman Phil Gingrey (GA-11) today released the following statement in response to his participation in a press conference highlighting the State Flexibility Act, a measure that gives states the power to manage their Medicaid programs, and eleven other bills in the 112th Congress that aim to shrink the size and scope of the federal government:

“In celebration of Constitution Day, I was pleased to join my fellow members of the 10th Amendment Task Force to discuss the State Flexibility Act, as well as other legislation that would restore the intended roles to state governments.

“With an extra 8 million Americans projected to join state Medicaid programs in the next few years, state governments need the flexibility to make cost-saving reforms to Medicaid in order to balance their budgets. The State Flexibility Act will enable states that are on the verge of bankruptcy to preserve the Medicaid program for future generations.

“The legislation highlighted today would apply Federalism as a solution for long-term deficit reduction, and in turn, unleash the economic growth and job creation necessary to turn this economy around. I urge my colleagues in the House and Senate to pass these critical initiatives.”
